Henry Street Studio was started by Brooklyn-based mother-daughter team Loren and Aliza Simons.
Both of us came to ceramics early: Loren spent her college days making ceramics before becoming a prop stylist, while Aliza first started exploring clay in elementary school. But it wasn’t until Aliza convinced Loren to get back into the pottery studio that we discovered a shared visual language. We work as a collaborative team, with one of us finishing the other's work; each piece is the work of two pairs of hands.
Our ceramics combine organic forms with delicate finishing, allowing for custom-mixed glazes to highlight shape. The textures and clean lines create simple, elegant dishes for both serving and everyday use. Each piece is handbuilt or hand-thrown.
Our name comes from our small house in Sag Harbor, New York where we spent many happy summers making pots and clay sculptures.
